Pigs give birth and suckle their young in steel or concrete farrowing crates. The sow and piglets will live in the stalls for about three weeks. Biodegradable and non-toxic detergents such as Vital Oxide kill 99.999 per cent of bacteria, viruses, fungi and completely eliminate noroviruses. Pressure washer attachments allow you to feed detergents directly through the hose.

Livestock operators need to ensure that the trucks they use to transport animals are also regularly cleaned and disinfected before and after each trip.
